No one can deny it anymore: urban music is the new mainstream. We hear it everywhere, it’s on every stage, and people of all ages dance to it. That’s why Sampa the Great<\/strong>‘s project, which brings new energy by combining it with her African roots, is a must-see, not only on the international scene, but also at the Festival Cru\u00eflla 2026<\/strong>, where she will perform!<\/strong><\/p>\n Born in Zambia and raised in Botswana, her origins have a major influence on the music of Sampa the Great, who, with her debut album \u2018The Return\u2019<\/strong>, embraces rap and hip-hop, contemporary spirit and the ancient sounds of southern Africa. It is the result of four years of personal and musical research and a redefinition of her identity, which three years later led to \u2018As Above, So Below\u2019<\/strong>, her second album, and several singles that were successfully received by the public. Sampa the Great won the Bandcamp Best Album Award and the Australian Music Prize in 2019, was named Hip-Hop Artist of the Year by both Music Victoria and the National Live Music Awards, and has been praised by media outlets such as Pitchfork and The Guardian.
